The networks are consolidating to compete against the likes of Apple and Google. ESPN is now stronger in streaming options and a stronger regional presence. FOX sold off a ton of assets that frees them up to focus on building a new company and focusing on national level sports rights to go along with their news, etc.

BTN will be rolled out throughout the Big 12 Conference and the PACN will be sold to BTN/FOX and that will allow them to have better coverage on the eastern timezone for all sports.

The college football playoff will expand to 6 or 8 schools. No university will move to a new conference as a result. Stability finally takes over.

Since the networks are consolidating there will be a large TV contract merger between the B1G, Big 12 and PAC.
